Once we found the perfect house for us, she asked the sellers to fix several issues that we would have let go and now that we are living in the house, we couldn’t be more grateful that she had them fixed! She even noticed some things that happened as a result of an extensive sewer repair and had the repair company fix the issue before we moved into the house. Her responsiveness was always excellent and she handled every matter in the most tasteful way possible which really allowed us to feel comfortable with the entire process.

I was searching in a very competitive price bracket and neighborhood, and it was pretty frustrating. But Robbie Ratkai was super patient as we visited 40+ houses, filed four unsuccessful offers, and finally landed a place. He’s a goofy, papaya- and tequilla-loving guy, but he’s a welcome change. Because this was my first home, and I am single, I was really glad to find people I felt comfortable with, and my trust in them turned out not to be misplaced.
A while into our search, Robbie had shown me a home I was very interested in in N PDX. Due to some regulations to do with the loan I was getting, I was not going to be able to put an offer in on it before the seller had had it for three months. I was going to have to wait for two weeks in this case. I think if Robbie had been any other realtor, he probably would have focused on other clients and waited for this to play out. Instead he called me a week in and said he had some houses to look at. I was semi-reluctant, since I was quite focused on that house. But Robbie cheerfully said “It’s always good to keep looking at what’s out there”. So I went with him. The house I am sitting in now was one of the houses we saw that day. My home was a short sale – so, again, I wouldn’t have been surprised if another realtor would have nudged me in a different direction. Short sales are notoriously tricky and tedious at best – and so require patience and work from all concerned, and often fall through. But Robbie could see me in here, and he encouraged me to go for what I wanted and stuck it out with me, because he believed we could make it happen. I REALLY can’t recommend him warmly enough.
Erica Dagle did an outstanding job by helping us buying our first home. Erica’s patience, understanding and guidance through the many months of searching for a house was fantastic. She is responsive, very available and flexible, knowledgeable and was very understanding of our endless questions about the home buying process. She made us feel very comfortable during this process, giving us the necessary support and advice when we needed it.

I can’t say enough about how supportive Margaret Gerlt was through my recent purchase of a beach house. I had not bought a house since 1978 and oh my have things changed! After deciding I may want to do this, Margaret walked me through the process with her skill, knowledge, wit, and attention to detail, keeping the whole procedure on track. I admit that I probably would not have had the will to take this step on my own but Margaret helped make it all happen.
With the belief that small companies usually have better customer service and closer customer relationship than big companies and our preference to support local small business, we found Portland’s Alternative Realtor office near our current rental place and Erica happened to be the Realtor who specializes in representing buyers.
That was in mid April which was only about 2 weeks and a half before Obama’s home tax credit expired. We were hoping that we could find our new home by this deadline to qualify for the home tax credit which was a kind of “Mission Impossible” given the time we had left. Understanding our hopes, Erica took immediate action sending us a fair amount of listed homes within our price range and scheduled as many home visits as possible during our free time. She accompanied us for many home visits during our lunch time in Beaverton as well as in the evening in the Portland area on the same day. After browsing over 20 houses within 2 weeks, we were able to make our purchasing decision and Erica helped us make a reasonable counter offer which was accepted by the seller. After that she continue to act proactively to help us with finding good inspectors, multiple roofing bids, arborists, etc. Whenever anything came up she knew who to call. She was so helpful for us as first time home buyers who knew nothing about this kind of stuff.
Her quality service made this “Mission Impossible” become possible. And as we said the day we closed, “She’s awesome.”
Being first time home buyers and looking in a city we’d never lived in before, I was nervous about finding a realtor. I stumbled across Erica online and decided to give her a call. Right from the start she was helpful and responsive, but never pushy, patiently answering our zillions of questions. Leia Carlton was fantastic to work with when we relocated and had to sell our home. I purchased my home through Portland’s Alternative Realtors in September 2001. In February 2007 I received a letter from the DEQ stating the filing fee for decommissioning the oil tank was not paid and I must forward $125. I let the DEQ know I did not own the house at the time of oil tank decommissioning and it was the seller’s responsibility. DEQ said they only go after the current owner for fees due and I would not be able to sell my house in the future without paying this fee. I contacted Kundalini at Portland’s Alternative Realtors to discuss the issue. Kundalini promptly researched the issue with the DEQ, contacted the prior owner and arranged for him to pay the fee. I am so impressed with Portland’s Alernative Realtors’ loyalty to their clients. Portland’s Alternative Realtors clearly stands by their clients regardless of the amount of time that has passed since the transaction (5 1/2 years had passed!).
