Agent Amy Reed

About Amy

Since childhood, Amy has been in love with exploring houses. She spent many weekends touring Sunday openings for entertainment with her mother, grandmother and sister. Those Sundays sparked a lifetime passion in Amy, ultimately leading her to the doorsteps of Portland’s Alternative Realtors!

Her enthusiasm for viewing houses and scouring the market remain strong to this day. A former career in home interiors has given her a keen eye for seeing a home’s hidden potential, the ability to recognize good resale value as well as the skill to reveal a home’s best qualities to potential buyers. With a bright and energetic demeanor, Amy strives to make the process of buying and selling as smooth as possible, her client’s best interest being her motivation every step of the way!

When she’s not out selling houses you may see Amy along with her husband Brian and their daughter Matilda hiking trails in Forest Park,  strolling the farmers markets or hanging out at the dog park with their terrier Henry. She also enjoys sewing everything from dresses to quilts, baking pies, reading design blogs and working on home projects.

Words From Amy’s Clients:

“Amy and Colleen helped us with both the purchase and sale of our home and they were wonderful to work with. They know and understand the market and are very professional.”

“We worked with Amy to purchase our Portland home while still living on the East Coast. Amy took the time to give us video tours and gather information about houses of interest and helped us feel more confident about submitting our offer from afar. She was patient with all of our questions and very honest about her concerns about any property we saw. She also encouraged us to make time to see the house we ended up buying in person during our inspection window to make sure that we were really 100% sure about our purchase.

Amy has since gone above and beyond in shuttling keys and meeting contractors, gathering quotes and reviewing inspection reports in detail. It has been a huge peace of mind to have Amy helping us locally while we plan our relocation. We couldn’t have possibly asked for a better realtor, or a more friendly person in general to welcome us to our future home.”

“Jim and I have only the highest praise for Amy Reed. We recently moved to Portland from Minneapolis, MN with virtually no knowledge of the local housing market. As veterans of the home buying process, it was with some trepidation that we began the search for a new Realtor. How wonderful that we managed to find Amy. We commonly refer to her as “Our Realtor Amy, The Best Realtor in the World.”

We can’t imagine how anyone could surpass her pleasant and effective style. We found Amy through a glowing review of her office on Yelp during a visit last fall. Luckily for us, Amy answered her office phone late one Friday afternoon and magically arrived at our hotel to show us houses within no time. Amy’s not only incredibly responsive to her customers’ needs she’s also extremely knowledgeable, highly ethical, punctual and charming. She worked with us over a 6-month period, helping us refine our search until we found the house of our dreams. Along the way, she guided us through multiple showings and 3 accepted offers including complex inspections and countless details. She was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We couldn’t recommend her more highly. You are very lucky if given the opportunity to be her client!”

“I contacted Amy Reed out of the blue as a resident from out of state looking to relocated in Portland.  I asked her about a specific house that had caught my eye and she answered my query promptly and with a lot of detail, familiarity and was very upbeat and helpful.  Even though it must be hard to have to be ‘on call’ nearly constantly, Amy was always available to answer the millions of questions I had about various properties in the following weeks.

She was always willing to visit homes for me via FaceTime to provide virtual tours and was able to make time when I was able to come into town to tour houses in person. I was impressed by her depth of knowledge about the neighborhoods as well as about a given homes potential and future resale value.  I felt I could really trust her opinion and make sound decisions based on her input.  Though the market was in a chaotic period when I was looking to buy, with houses going for far more than they were listed for, Amy understood the conditions confidently enough to help me make a winning offer on a house that I am very happy to soon be calling ‘home’.  I highly recommend Amy for the amount of hard work she is willing to put in, for her flexibility and responsiveness and for her solid knowledge of the various neighborhoods and trends.  She is kind, patient, positive and a pleasure to work with.

“We recently purchased a home and Amy was amazing from start to finish. We would recommend her a million times over.  She is brilliant and hard working.  She never stopped working- even on the weekends.  Thank you and we love our home.  Run don’t walk to these amazing folks!!”

“I can’t say enough good things about Amy. We sent an email inquiry to her group requesting a meeting to go over what we are looking for and a month and a half later, we were moving into our new home.

She provided a bunch of options for us and always made herself available for showings.  Any questions or concerns we had about anything were addressed immediately.

She was always upbeat and made the entire home buying process a breeze. You can tell she loves what she does. I’d recommend her to anyone.”

“Amy Reed is the best! We came to town for a long weekend, not expecting to leave having an offer accepted.  It was unusually quick even by her standards. The bottom line is that we were first time home buyers and generally not well informed and she was so patient with us! She made us feel like we were her only clients, which I knew we were not. This is the best trait of a realtor. She gave us great guidance along the way. She also did not pass judgment on the fact that we were another CA couple looking to buy a house in PDX..which I know is not the most popular right now. I highly recommend her and from what I’ve heard, the entire office is great.”

“We recently closed on our new home and Amy Reed was our agent.  I can’t say enough about Amy’s attentiveness, tenacity, and attention to detail – she was never too busy to help us at every step, and really made us feel like important clients.  I will sing Amy’s praises from the mountain tops for as long as I live in Oregon!”

“This being the first time I was purchasing a house for myself and moving out of my home state, I started looking for a house in Portland a year before I had even sold my out of state residence. Amy Reed met with me, and gave me the information I needed to prepare for my search. One year later, when I was ready to buy, Amy remembered me was able to accommodate my long distance house search needs. She was willing to spend two very long days taking my partner and I to view houses, knowing that we could only be in Portland a couple of days. She pointed out possible repairs needed for the properties we viewed, and reviewed the pros and cons of each property. When we put an offer on a house, she walked us through the process, scheduled all the contingency period inspections (and negotiated a longer contingency period), and even stayed at the property through the inspections. When the first house we bid on didn’t pan out, Amy helped me by pre-viewing the houses for sale I liked, which houses I found with the MLS listings she emailed me. When she viewed a house that she knew met our requirements, she used FaceTime to show it to me (worked great!) and encouraged me to see it in person when I made an offer. Once again, she made sure all the contingency period inspections were completed and guided us through the process of purchasing the house. I cannot say how much I appreciate the time, effort and hand holding Amy put into our home buying experience. I really felt she was working for my partner and my best interests. I highly recommend her.”

“We had the pleasure of working with Amy in our recent home search. Given the current speed and competitive nature of the market, we needed a trusted local agent that we could act as our proxy since we were living out of state at the time. In fact, Amy was the first to view the home we recently closed on and it was because of our trust that she understood what we were looking for that we made the trip to see the home the next day when she reported it was what we were looking for.

We found Amy to be sincere, patient, and friendly and she regularly made herself available on weekends even when on a family weekend trip. We highly recommend her as an agent and absolutely plan to work with her for our next move!”

“We worked with Amy to find our house and she was awesome! My husband and I were first time homeowners and were very green to the entire process. We had been looking for a house for several months and quickly found a house with Amy. She was very knowledgeable about the area we were interested in and this helped us narrow down our search and really focus on the location we wanted. When putting together the offer, Amy took the time to sit down with us and clearly explain what we were signing. Lots of legal jargon and pages that go on forever, it’s easy to miss important information or get overwhelmed, but Amy was really patient with us. After our offer was accepted is when we found out how much work a realtor does. Amy set up the general house inspection, radon and sewer scopes, and was there for every one. She helped us create a strategy for how to approach all of the work the house needed and how we could negotiate with the seller. The seller agreed to fix the sewer, redo the plumbing and patch the roof. She was there for all of the work and followed through on everything. We were so happy to have such a thorough person on our side. Thanks Amy!!”

“I don’t think I could give a higher recommendation. Amy Reed, at Portland’s Alternative Inc. Realtors, helped me to sell my house in less than 24 hrs after listing and at a really great price. She is friendly, supportive, highly responsive, knows how to advertise a home to highlight all its assets and goes above and beyond in many unexpected ways. You really couldn’t get a better realtor.”

“We can’t recommend Amy and Portland Alternative highly enough! This was our first home buying experience and the bar has been set incredibly high. Amy took such good care to make us feel informed and help us set realistic and comfortable expectations. We ended up in a great first home that met our needs, and the process felt much easier than expected thanks to Amy’s expertise. We’d definitely work with her again and will be recommending her to everyone we know in the area who might be looking for a home of their own!”

“I had a fantastic experience working with Amy Reed at Alt PDX. I highly recommend their services and they made selling my home an easy and streamlined process. Great communication and assistance throughout all aspects of the process.”
